Once again, "Fešta Kostanjada"
(Feshta Kostanyada) - the Festival of chestnuts will be held in the Montenegrin settlement Stoliv, on the coast of Kotor Bay, near Kotor.
The holiday is dedicated entirely to one not well-known, but very tasty fruit- chestnut. In Montenegro, it is going to be held for the 11th time in order to preserve the ancient chestnut trees and the planting of the young ones.
Chestnut festival begins on the 6th of November, 2016 at 11:00 am and will last all day long. Mistress of the closest settlements are presenting their signature dishes - sweet and savory treats from chestnut and chestnut puree at the celebration. The present guests, as usual, are offered to try all of them!
The guests will be treated with a variety of chestnut pastries - cookies, cakes and sandwiches with chestnut paste. And maybe some hestnut tea will occur to you, which is very good for cough treatment and even asthma.
Here you can buy fresh chestnuts, fresh olive oil, local oranges, pomegranates, dried figs, and much more, and you can admire the works of art and various crafts associated with the chestnut. Many locals say, that Montenegrins are often used to bake delicious bread made from chestnut flour mixed with wheat, as chestnuts have a high content of starch.
The program also includes tasting of local wines, fair of natural products from manufacturers from all over Montenegro, sporting events, art exhibitions, cultural events, and, as usual, a trip to the mountain Vrmac and the settlement Gornji Stoliv.
