Rustovo nunnery is located 4km from the St. Stefan island, in the village Rustovo, over the hill Chelobrdo with an amazing view opening to the most beautiful part of Adriatic seashore of Montenegro. Rustovo nunnery complex was consecrated on the Eve of Theophany 18.01.2003. It is known from the history, that citizens of Kotor acknowledged Louis of Hungary's authority (Ludwik). The conflicts between Hungary and Venice started in 1378. The Pashtrovichi tribe was on the Venice side in this conflict. In 1381 Ludwik sent punitive expedition to the region of the Pashtrovichi tribe and assassinated 1400 people of this tribe. The most part of Orthodox Christianity believers were buried on the site of the present Rustovo Monastery, and the smallest part was buried at the Monastery of the St. George on Mrtvica. It is located in an hour away from Podgorica in Bogetići village. The Monastery dates the 17th century and got it name after the mountain cliff. Formerly these caves were the place where hermit monks of Ostrog lived. The church is located in Old Town of Kotor from the Northern side next to the Sea Gate. The church is the most popular sightseeing of Old Kotor built in XIII century on the site of the Cathedral church. The church was built in honor of St. Mary, but since St. Ozana's relics are kept in the church, hence double name of the church. The history of St. Mary's started in the first quarter of XIII century, specifically since 1221. The church was built on the holy place, seeing that previously Early Christian basilica of VI century used to be here. Baptistery and some fragments of church furniture were found near an ancient basilica's base. Today these findings can be seen in the sacristy on five feet below the existing bottom level. The facade of the church is made of interleaved horizontal rows of pink and grey stone, gabled roof and dome are covered of stone tiles. A notable detail of the exterior is original molded doors with 24 hammered images depicting scenes of life in Old Kotor. The frescoes of the temple were made by Greek artists in XIV century, but just fragments were kept in the absis and Southern wall.

Montenegrins are very religious people, but the territory of modern Montenegro is covered with a huge number of monasteries, churches and temples of various religious faiths. Most of them are Christian Orthodox churches and temples as the main religion of the population is Orthodoxy. In coastal areas of Montenegro there is a significant number of Catholic churches and cathedrals, left over from the Byzantine rule.
