Lovcen National Park (Nacionalni park Lovćen) was proclaimed a national park in 1952. Lovćen stands on the border between two climate zones, mediterranean and continental, that has caused the development of rich wild life with numerous endemic species of plants and animals. 1/3 out of the existed species of Montenegrin flora can be found here.
The park is also inhabited by wolves, bears, wild boars, foxes, deer, rabbits, hedgehog, voles, about 200 bird species, 11 species of reptiles and a great number of insects. There are 2 highest peaks of Lovcen mountains, Štirovnik 749m above the sea, you get there just having special equipment; and Jezerskivrh 1 657m above the sea, where Njegos Mausoleum is located. Lovcen National Park is beautiful at any season. Driving along mountain serpentine road, you will see the change of nature. On the shore you can enjoy palms, magnolia, acacia, but here you will see a real forest of north latitude.Lifehack: Visiting Cetinje in summer, do not forget to take a coat and jeans.
