The ancient fortresses of Forte Mare and Kanli Kula, which are located in the resort town of Herceg Novi (Montenegro) will be open daily from 1 to 7 February from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Free admission.

Recall that last year the Herceg Novi Municipality, with the help of the National Commission of UNESCO, put forward the fortress Forte Mare to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The candidacy of the fortress Forte-Mare is considered by the commission within the framework of the already existing nomination “Venetian fortifications of the XVI-XVII centuries”. Last year, the fortress underwent all the necessary procedures to participate in the nomination and was included in the list as a transnational historical site of Montenegro, Italy and Croatia.

If we talk about the fortress of Kanli Kula (Bloody Tower), then this ancient defensive structure awaits repair after a landslide fallen on it, and this is only the first step in a large-scale project of reconstruction and restoration of the entire fortress of Kanli Kula.
