22.5 million euros allocated for the modernization of railways in Montenegro

The Government of Montenegro has developed a program for the construction, reconstruction, modernization and maintenance of railway infrastructure for 2019 and has allocated for this purpose a total of 22,546,644 euros.
“Based on the fact that the railway in Montenegro is widely used by residents and guests of the country, and the management and modernization of the railway infrastructure is a public interest activity, it was decided this year to allocate a total of 22.5 million euros”, said the Government of Montenegro.
In addition, the Government made a Decision to award an Agreement on the obligation to provide services for the transport of passengers of public interest to the company “Railway Transport of Montenegro” (“Željeznički prevoz Crne Gore”).
“The adopted Decision determined that the Railway Services Agreement is awarded for a period of one year, while the funds for covering part of the costs associated with the provision of passenger transportation services amount to 4,030,000 euros,” states message of the Government of Montenegro.
