Last year, 25 new, different in number of stars, hotels were opened in Montenegro, which in total have 1,985 beds, the daily Dnevne novine writes.
According to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism of Montenegro, among the newly opened hotels, objects of high category are dominated, namely six with the service corresponding to five-star standards, and 9 hotels with four stars. In addition, eight three-star hotels and two that have two stars were built.
The Ministry of Tourism of Montenegro believes that the increase in the number of hotels of high category, as the most important segment of the country's tourist product, was especially promoted by the numerous incentive measures taken by the Montenegrin authorities. These measures include cancellation of the obligation to pay utility bills for the construction of a four and five star hotel, reduction of the annual property tax to 30% for hotels with four stars and up to 70% for five star hotels at priority tourist sites, removal of obligations on VAT payment for goods and services related to the construction of five-star hotels, as well as a low VAT rate of only 7% on accommodation in high-class hotels.
