From May 28, in Montenegro, as in other eurozone countries, new banknotes with denominations of 100 and 200 euros will go into circulation.
New banknotes of 100 and 200 euros differ in size from old bills of the same denomination. In particular, their width has decreased and now it will be the same as that of a 50-euro banknote. As noted in the official statement of the European Central Bank, ATMs will be able to quickly process new banknotes, and they will also be much more convenient to fit into the wallets of citizens.
The length of the new bills 100 and 200 euros remained the same. Also their color has not changed: the banknote with a face value of 100 euros remained greenish, and 200 euros - yellowish-brown. In addition to the modified size, the new money is equipped with additional elements of protection against counterfeiting. This is not only the protective watermarks visible to the human eye, but also special elements that only a machine can read. On the right on the bills are a large euro logo, an architectural motif and a holographic image of the heroine of ancient Greek myths - the daughter of the Phoenician king Agenor, Europe.
The Central Bank of Montenegro stressed that the old banknotes of 100 and 200 euros will also be in circulation.
