On June 1, in Montenegro, as in many countries of the world, the International Children's Day is celebrated. This holiday was established in 1949 in Paris by the decision of the Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women and was first celebrated in 1950.
The symbol of the International Children Day is the green flag, on the background of which is depicted the planet Earth and five multi-colored figures around its circumference. The green background symbolizes fertility, growth and harmony, the planet Earth is the common home of all children, and multi-colored figurines are a symbol of tolerance and diversity.
In addition to the International Children's Day, which is celebrated every year in many countries of the world, such holidays are also dedicated to children: World Children's Day (November 20), International Day of Innocent Children - victims of aggression (June 4) and Children's Day in Africa (June 16).
