The cost of starting and 1 kilometer in a taxi will be from 50 cents to 1 euro

Proposals to solve problems related to the work of a taxi in the capital of Montenegro - the city of Podgorica, will be presented to the relevant committees at the next meeting of the Assembly of the capital of Montenegro, June 13, 2019. They will be governed by the conditions, the organization of transportation of people, the optimal number of cars, taxis, the minimum number of special cars adapted for people with disabilities, as well as the minimum and maximum prices for taxi fares and the way the taxi services operate in Podgorica, the information portal reports Victory.

In addition to the general provisions on registration, the appearance and technical characteristics of taxi cars, one of the provisions that is particularly interesting for the citizens of Montenegro concerns the approval of the minimum and maximum prices for taxi services.

At a meeting of the Assembly of the capital of Montenegro, the committees will decide on the creation of three tariffs for taxis: standard (day), night (from 10 pm to 6 am) and public holidays, as well as for transportation outside the city. According to the proposed solution, in the first fare the cost of starting a taxi ride will be in the range from 50 cents to 1 euro, the same amount will be charged for each kilometer traveled. In the night fare, the start and mileage taken by taxi will be in the range from 60 cents to 1 euro, and at the entrance to the city - from 40 cents to 1 euro. The cost of waiting for a taxi will be in the range of 6 to 10 euros per hour, while the arrival of the car to the place and transportation of baggage will be free in all three tariffs.

In addition, the proposal provides that every taxi driver will be required to pass the knowledge test of Podgorica. One of the proposed items is also the provision that every carrier company that has 20 or more vehicles in its possession must have at least 5% of the total number of vehicles equipped with a platform in their taxi fleet, as well as appropriate equipment for their safe transportation. Among other things, the proposal also determined that a taxi stand is a designated and organized place in the traffic zone where cars will stop, wait, pick up and drop off passengers.

The implementation of this Decision will be supervised by the administrative authority of the city responsible for traffic, and employees of the municipal police of Podgorica will be responsible for ensuring public order and overseeing the implementation of the Decision on the road.
