This year, Montenegro ranked 67 out of 163 countries in the Global World Index, published by the Institute of Economics and Peace.
It is worth noting that in 2018, Montenegro took the 58th place in the Global World Index from 163 countries. As for the countries of the Balkan region, Slovenia is in eighth place, Croatia - 28, Serbia -50 and Albania is in 51st place in the Global World Index. North Macedonia ranked one position higher in the list compared to Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks 81st in the list, and Kosovo - 86.
Since 2008, Iceland is the most peaceful country in the world, and the least peaceful state of the Earth in 2019 is Afghanistan, last year it was Syria. Also, studies have shown that the Middle East and North Africa remain the least peaceful regions in the world, while Europe is the most peaceful region of the Earth.
