The entrance to the Old Town of Kotor through the southern gate of Gurdich will soon be transformed, as construction and repair work is currently underway on several positions, according to a statement from the Kotor City Improvement and Construction Office.
Currently, work is underway to restore the reconstructed mechanism for lifting the southern city gates of Gurdich. The work includes the restoration of existing, preserved parts, as well as the addition of missing parts, and is carried out in accordance with a previously developed project using similar solutions from preserved mechanisms.
“In addition, we selected a contractor for the reconstruction and decoration of a small elevated plateau at the Gurdich gate, on which garbage containers were previously installed. This space will soon get a new look, and the decoration itself will include the reconstruction of a retaining wall of stone. It is also planned landscaping of various zones, including a raised plateau, and an irrigation system will be built,” the Kotor Planning and Construction Directorate said, adding that three public lighting lamps will be purchased and installed at this position.
