In the territory of the Skadar Lake National Park, 73 new pelicans were added. Such an increase in the pelican population is first recorded on Lake Skadar.

It is worth noting that for several consecutive years the number of pelicans on Skadar Lake decreased and their population in Montenegro was in danger of extinction. However, the state-owned management company National Parks of Montenegro, in collaboration with international organizations, helped to improve this situation thanks to active actions and various activities aimed at increasing the number of pelicans. In particular, the growth of the pelican population was influenced by the creation of additional places and platforms for their nesting on Skadar Lake.
