On Monday, in the village of Risan, located on the shore of the Bay of Kotor, 17 new palm trees of the Washingtonia robusta variety were planted, which are not afraid of the pest beetle - palm weevil (Latin Rhynchophorus ferrugineus). According to the municipality of Kotor, the height of these palm trees is seven meters - five meters trunk and two meters top of the tree.
Recall that in mid-September of this year, all palm trees were removed from the waterfront in Risan, as they were damaged by a red palm weevil.
“Removing the dead palm trees from the embankment and in the center of Risan was extremely difficult, but necessary work,” said the mayor of the city, Zeljko Aprkovic, and promised to plant new seedlings as soon as possible.
In addition, three new palm trees were planted in the city of Perast.
