The Montenegrin authorities decided to cancel the large-scale carnival procession at the Mimosa Festival, which was supposed to take place in Herceg Novi this weekend, because of the threat of the spread of coronavirus.
About 600 groups from Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Macedonia were to take part in the carnival parade.
According to the organizers of the multi-day Mimosa Festival, the traditional burning of a carnival scarecrow and a concert by Serbian singer Zeljko Joksimovic are still preserved in the program of the holiday and will be held on March 14.
