This year, 32 beaches of Montenegro received the international environmental recognition mark - «Blue Flag». It is worth noting that this season Montenegro received two more awards than last year.
The Blue Flag International Award is given every year to the best beaches around the world, which are distinguished by high quality water and excellent conditions for relaxation.
The ceremony of announcing the winners of the Blue Flag international project took place in Montenegro, on the territory of the Kalardovo beach, which is located in the Tivat Riviera, near the island of Tsvetov.
The leader in the number of beaches awarded the Blue Flag award has traditionally become the Budva Riviera and its 17 beaches - one more compared to 2019. The international environmental label has become the owner of the beaches: Sirena, Svetionik, S&I Beach Life, Escallera, Blue Beach and Posejdon in the beach zone "Jaz"; San Trope and Time Out on the Slovenian beach in Budva itself; “Dolce Vita”, Samsara Deluxe, Bella Vista and “Sveti Toma” in the village of Becici; Kamenovo 17A in the town of Kamenovo; Galija, better known as "Crvena Glavica" near the village of Sveti Stefan; Drobni pijesak in the village of Reževići, as well as Ponta and Lučice in Petrovac.
The second place went to the Ulcinj Riviera, located in the south of Montenegro, 10 beaches of which were awarded the Blue Flag (one less than a year earlier): “Toni Grill”, “Miami”, “Mojito”, Pearl Beach, Cabo Beach, White Beach, Evropa, MCM Beach and Copacabana, which are part of the Great Beach (Velika Plaža).
Four beaches of the Bar Riviera have received the international award: Centar and Korali in Sutomore, Paradiso in Uteha, and Vela beach in the village of Canj.
In Tivat municipality, two beaches received the Blue Flag: Plavi horizonti on the Lustica Peninsula and “Kalardovo” off the island of flowers.
This year the Herceg Novi Riviera was left without awards, although last season the Blue Flag fluttered on one beach - Dobrec on the Lustica peninsula.
Montenegro's beaches have received the Blue Flag international quality mark since 2003, when the local non-governmental organization Ecom became a member of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
