On the eve of the summer tourist season, the national parks of Montenegro invite all to visit Durmitor, Biogradska Gora, Lovchen, Skadar Lake and Prokletije.
In order to promote protected natural areas, the organization of the NP expanded and strengthened cooperation with the NTO of Montenegro, took part in the three most important tourist exhibitions in Germany, held several promotional and educational events to raise awareness of the importance of protected areas.
From January 1 to 3 May, 2017, parks were visited by about 18,370 visitors, which is 32% more in comparison with last year. Most visitors were in NP Lovchen (45%) and NP Durmitor (30%), as well as Biogradska Gora (17%) and Skadar Lake (16%).
Cruises along the Skadar Lake, during which you can get acquainted with the rich flora and fauna of the lake, attract more and more lovers of this freshwater lake in the Balkans every year.
The rafting season on the Tara River was officially opened on 23 March by two tourists from Germany, while the fishing season on the Black Lake began on 30 April.
Thanks to the preserved nature and variety of tourist offer, the number of visitors is growing every year.
Recall that last year, parks were visited by more than 320,000 visitors, which is 4% more than the total level compared to 2015. Taking into account the growing interest of tourists to active recreation in protected natural areas, this trend is expected to continue and increase the number of visitors during the summer tourist season.
For security reasons in the national parks of Montenegro, the management of the parks encourages all visitors to adhere to the internal order, take care of natural, cultural and human values, do not move away from the slopes and not endanger the wildlife and protected areas.
