The Parliament of Montenegro (Assembly) adopted a
New Law on Planning and Development of cities, which caused discontent in the administrations of many Montenegrin communities. The overwhelming majority of MPs voted for the adoption of this law - 40 against one.
It should be noted that this new land law will give the central authorities the right to solve many issues that were previously solved at the local level: planning and building settlements, issuing permits for construction, legalizing or demolishing illegally constructed buildings, etc. Against its adoption, are representatives of Budva, Kotor and Herceg Nov communities, a number of political parties and various non-governmental organizations. It is also reported that during the consideration of the law, a number of changes were made to it, which restored the right to decide the fate of "temporary facilities" under the jurisdiction of communities.
