The only
ferry line between Montenegro and Italy, Bar-Bari-Bar, is closed again, as the contract expires, which Montenegrin company Barska plovidba signed with the Croatian company Jadrolinijom this spring.
According to
the chairman of the board of directors of Barska plovidba, captain Ljubo Kočović, the Dubrovnik passenger liner will no longer walk between the Montenegrin city of
Bar and the Italian Bari, and he noted that the members of the Board of Directors and representatives of state capital are now time are intensively working in the field of maritime transportation monitoring and are actively searching for a used passenger ship in order to
restore the only sea line connecting Montenegro to Italy and the whole of Europe.
At the moment, the state of Montenegro owns a controlling stake (51%) of the company "Barska plovidba". Employees of the company who deal with financial issues say that now a second-hand passenger ship can be bought for five or six million euros.
It should be noted that
the sea link between the Montenegrin port of Bar and the Italian port of Bari was created on 18 June, 1965. For the last year this is the second time when the movement of passenger ships along the Bar-Bari-Bar route was completely stopped.
