Today,
on January 7, Orthodox believers in Montenegro celebrate Christmas, which is the most joyous Christian holiday.
According to ancient custom and traditions,
in Montenegro Christmas is considered a fun family holiday. On this day, Orthodox residents of Montenegro do not go out, but celebrate the birth of Christ only at home. Christians traditionally believe that on this day everyone who has been in a quarrel during the year should talk and forgive each other's grievances.
Christmas is preceded by a 40-day fast, and on the day of the feast, Christians lay a rich table with a variety of food and red wine. On this holiday, Orthodox believers greet each other with the words "Christ was born" and, accordingly, receive the answer "Truly Born".
Christmas in Montenegro is celebrated for three days.
