The National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG), in addition to its unique natural value, have a great historical and cultural significance for Montenegro and for the whole world.
"In addition, the National Parks of Montenegro, as an integral part of the country's overall tourism offer, have great potential to promote and support the creation of new cultural projects and the development of tourism in Montenegro," said the director of the State Company, Elvir Klitsa.
We will remind that in Montenegro there are 5 different from each other national parks: Durmitor National Park, Lovcen National Park, Skadar Lake National Park, Biogradska Gora National Park and National Park Prokletiye, which make up 7.7% of the all country territory.
Representatives of the NPCG informed that E. Klitsa recently met with the director of the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Serbia and Montenegro to inform about the preparation of preliminary projects related to the development of the cultural heritage of Montenegrin national parks. He also noted that cultural tourism is a very important segment of promotion, in which Montenegro, and especially its National Parks, have many different proposals.
The representative of the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Beckman-Dierkes, noted that over the past few years the company has implemented several projects around the world aimed at preserving and promoting the cultural heritage. "Montenegro is a unique country of many natural beauties." Having visited this mountainous Balkan country located on the Adriatic coast, I came to the conclusion that the National Parks are not only natural but also cultural treasures of Montenegro", he said in his statement.
Several cultural and historical projects were proposed at the meeting: reconstruction of the water mill in the Tara River canyon, reconstruction of the medieval caravan route in the Durmitor National Park, research works in the Lovcen National Park, restoration of old stone bridges and mills in the Skadar Lake National Park, and organization of various thematic exhibitions and publishing catalogs of the cultural and historical heritage of the National Parks of Montenegro.
