The government officially announced the implementation of the project for the construction of a wind power station in Montenegro in the region of Krnovo in accordance with Annex 6 of the Land Lease Agreement and the construction of a wind farm in this area.
"In accordance with the Energy Law, this Annex will provide all conditions for concluding an agreement between the investor and the Montenegrin electricity transmission system operator on the purchase from the investor of a part of the infrastructure that is intended
to implement the ten-year plan for the development of the power transmission network in Montenegro," - the government statement says.
It was also noted that in order to achieve this goal,
the European Union (EU) granted Montenegro a grant of 5.8 million euros (under a grant for the Trans-Balkan Corridor of 25 million euros).
In the middle of 2015, the construction of a wind power station in the area of Krnovo was started at an altitude of 1,5 thousand meters. The total installed capacity of the 72 megawatt (MW) power plant and an annual capacity of about 200 gigawatt hours (GWh) will provide electricity to about 50,000 households.
The project for the construction of windmills in Montenegro is being implemented by the Austrian company Ivica Consulting and the French company Akuo Energy, and the total amount of all investments is about 120 million euros. It is also worth noting that the state land in Krnovo is rented for 20 years with the possibility of an extension for another five years.
