The European Union (EU) has allocated 1.3 million euros for the reconstruction of castles and fortresses on the Balkan Peninsula, among which there is
the Kanli Kula Fortress (or the Blood Tower), located in the town of
Herceg Novi (Montenegro) on the coast of the Boka Bay of Kotor.
The restoration, equipping of
the Kanli Kula fortresses in Herceg Novi (Montenegro),
Klis and St. Mihovil in Sibenik (Croatia) and Vranduk near Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina) will be provided with digital and lighting equipment, about 1.3 million euros will be allocated from the Program cross-border cooperation between the states of the Balkan region of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
All construction and restoration work must be completed by the end of 2018, representatives of the partner countries said during the joint presentation of this interstate project in Klys, Croatia.
