The first tourists, 25 of them from Israel, have already arrived in Montenegro to raft along the mountain river Tara. However, due to the high water level in the river, rafting on Tara has not officially opened yet, and all rafts are banned.
It is worth noting that on the river Tara at this time of the year the rafting season begins and many tourists who want to feel the full power of the mountain streams arrive in Montenegro exactly in the beginning of spring, when the rain and melting glaciers fill the river with water, making it several times larger and faster. In the same year, due to constant downpours and a rather snowy winter, the water level in the river Tara is much higher than usual and to ensure the safety of the passengers, the rafting will be postponed for a few more days, the rafting instructor who rafts on the Tara River informed. "Apart from the guests from Israel, we have another group of tourists who want to raft on the river Tara, but because of the very high water level, we can not take responsibility and organize this rather dangerous event. this year, the rafting season in Montenegro should begin no earlier than 10 April. Until that day, we can offer our guests all kinds of canyon tours, picnics and trips to observation platforms, "said the rafter, Goran Lecovic, on Montenegrin radio.
The Canyon of the Tara River, whose maximum depth is 1343 meters, is the largest treasure of Durmitor National Park and is under the double protection of UNESCO World Heritage.
