The memorial sculpture with a bronze bust of the most famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes was installed in the Old Town of Ulcinj, located in the southern part of the coast of Montenegro. The height of this sculpture is 3.6 meters, and its author is the famous Albanian sculptor from Tirana, Budzhar Vani.
According to legend, in the late 16th century, Miguel de Cervantes was in slavery in the city of Ulcinj. In addition, some researchers saw in Dulcinea Tobosskaya, the main heroine of the novel by Miguel Cervantes "The clever hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha," the image of the Ulcinj woman. It is also worth noting that the famous work "Don Quixote" was created precisely after Cervantes was enslaved in the Old Town of Ulcinj, which in the Romance countries, as then and today, is called Dulcinjo.
Residents of Ulcinj believe that Dulcinea is the second name of the city of Ulcinj, and this legend has immortalized the name of this coastal Montenegrin city.
