In August, the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro, the Navy, the municipality of Tivat and the Tourist Organization of Tivat organize several events on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the training ship «Jadran»!
The training ship "Jadran" is a sailboat of the "barcantin" type, displacement of 737 tons and a length of 64 meters. It was built in Hamburg (Germany) in 1933. The Navy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia signed a contract for the construction of this vessel with the German shipyard H.C. Stulcken Sohn on September 4, 1930.
The sailing ship was launched on June 25, 1931, having received the name "Adriatica" (Wed Jadran). The final construction of the vessel and its equipping with equipment was completed in June 1933, when the ship sailed to its homeland. On July 16 of the same year at 10 o'clock in the morning the sailing ship "Jadran" arrived at the port of Tivat, in connection with which solemn events took place in the city.
On August 19, 1933, the Jadran training ship was registered in the Navy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and this day is still celebrated as the birthday of the ship.
Note that at the moment the «Jadran» sailboat sailed more than 400,000 nautical miles and visited almost all ports of Europe, from the Black to the Baltic Sea.
