On the occasion of the upcoming holidays - New Year and Christmas, non-working days in Montenegro were approved on January 1, 2, 6, 7 and 8, the Ministry of Labor of Montenegro reported.
In accordance with the Law on public and other holidays, the New Year 2019 in Montenegro is celebrated on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday, 2nd January. In addition, Orthodox believers in Montenegro are entitled to paid weekends on January 6th, 7th and 8th, as these holidays are celebrated in the country: Christmas Eve (Badnidan or Badnjak) and Christmas (two days).
"State-owned companies, local governments, public institutions, public companies and other organizations carrying out any activities of public interest are obliged to work on holidays if the absence of employees in the workplace may entail harmful and negative consequences for citizens or the state", - said in a statement the Ministry of Labor and Social Support of Montenegro.
