Fortress in Budva
It was built in the 15th century. The whole complex consists from fortress gate, walls, St. Mary's church, building with old barracks and Square. The fortress presents potential of the constructors from the past. One of the walls is decorated with bas-relief presented two intertwined fish figure. According to the legend, these two lovers were separated by parents and turned into fish by throwing themselves into the sea.
King Nikola's Royal Palace in Bar
It is an architectural pearl of the town. Small building impresses with its elegance. Royal complex consists of park, winter garden, chapel, small Palace and botanical gardens. Today, there is History and Economy Museum and place where festivals and concerts are held.
Fortress in Old Bar
It is a historical center of Bar and the biggest architectural and archaeological ancient settlement within the Balkans. Old Bar is located inside of fort walls. You can get to the town through the gates built in the 11th century. There are about six hundred buildings of religious and social purpose. Some churches are in good condition.
Walls of Old Kotor
Campala tower and Bembo bastion are well preserved constructions and may look like inaccessible. The town is protected by St. John's fortress from the mountain side. Fort walls of Kotor had been constructed during 10 centuries, from the 9th till 19th century.
St. John's fortress
It is the main sightseeing of Boka-Kotor bay. To reach the fortress one need to overcome 1400 stairs. It is located 300m above sea level. And it is dangerous and difficult to get to the fortress, here and there the stairs are located on the edge of an abyss. But if you do not afraid and want to see beautiful landscapes, it is worth of your efforts. It is better to do it when the weather is not so hot and take some water with you.
Forte Mare (sea fortress)
It is a symbol of Herceg Novi. It was built by Tvrko King in the 14th century. Today Forte Mare is an open air cinema and a place where concerts and music festivals are held.
Kanli Kula
One more Montenegrin fortress located in Herceg Novi. It is translated like bloody tower and was used as a prison, hence the name. The fortress is located 85m above sea level and provides wonderful views.
Bastion Spanjola
It is also located in Herceg Novi built during Ottoman rule in the 15-16 century. The fortress is located on the mountain Bayer 170m above sea level. It is noteworthy that the bastion was used for defense three times during the 20th century.
Old town Svach
It is located 20km from Ulcinj on Sasko lake. Today just ruins are left similar to Hersones. First mention about town dates back to the 8th century, in the 14th century it is mentioned like a village. Sasko lake also attracts the tourists. There are more than 200 kinds of uncommon birds. The lake is rich with fish.
Ruins of Doclea (Duklja)
It is located not far from Podgorica. Primarily it was Rome town, where Emperor Diocletian was born. When the Slavs came Duklja became Doclea. There was a long period of excavation works, in the result of which the image of the town was displayed: palaces, thermals, triumph arc, churches, and necropolis with house hold utensils.
Ancient town-fortress Medun (Medeon)
It is located on the north-east from Podgorica. Titus Livius was the first who mentioned this town, which was founded in the 3rd century B.C. The Illyrians lived in Medun. In ancient times there were well equipped acropolis, cemetery and place for rituals. The symbol of the Illyrians was a snake and scientists presume that they were followers of snake cult.
Residence-fortress Bucha
It was built more than 500 years ago by the brothers Nicolas and Michel Bucha. It was a residence well equipped for defense and living. The castle consists of the main parts: house, St. Michel tower (the patron of the Bucha family), other premises. Objects are protected by stone wall.
