is a big round flat cutlet made of chopped meat (pork and beef) cooked on grill. You can try it at any restaurant of traditional Balcan cuisine or buy at the shop like semi-product. The most amazing thing, that it is impossible to find two Pleskavicas of the same taste. Every restaurant has its own recipe, for example, cheese and bacon are added sometimes (gourmet Pljeskavica), sometimes mushrooms (stuffed Pljeskavica), spices and onion. It is recommended to drink beer or Dunja (strong alcoholic drink made of quince) with pljeskavica.
At the restaurant pljeskavica is served with garnish of potato or kajmak (very soft but greasy dairy product, something between sour cream and butter), or with pepper sauce – ajvar, or with urnjebes (cheese seasoned with hot pepper and garlic). Shopska salad is often ordered with pleskavica.
Pleskavica is served at the restaurants as well as in fast-food. "Street" variant of pljeskavica looks like a big hamburger consisting of bread roll, cutlet and topped with fresh cucumbers, pickles, sauce and various seasons.
