Mojito cocktail ingredients
— 50-60 ml light Rum
— fresh mint
— soda water with sugar or tonic water
Mojito is a wonderful drink to quench one's thirst. Mojito recipe came from Havana, the capital of Cuba, in a small restaurant-bar «Bodeguita del Medio», which locates two steps from the cathedral Calle Emperador. The restaurant was founded by Martínez family in 1942. And it still welcomes guests at the same bar in colonial style at the very heart of the city. Many famous people had been visiting this place, Ernest Hemingway was among them. His photo is in the restaurant. How to make Mojito at home.
Muddle sugar and lime with soda water in glass. Mush mint leaves slightly with a stir. Add crushed ice and mint spring. Pour Rum and add soda water mixing carefully. It is possible to use tonic water at home instead of soda water. Garnish with lime wedge and 2 soda straws.
It is good to use big soda straws, because small ones can trap pieces of ice and mint leaves.
Blender can be used to crush ice. Ideally to use ice breaker. It is possible to use ice in pieces, but spice of the cocktail will be lost.
