Canyon River Susice

 Susica canyon is one of the most beautiful canyons in the Balkans. It is located within the National Park «Durmitor», it's length is 14 km, the maximum height of the coast – 600 meters. Canyon is available for motorcyclists, cyclists and hikers.
 The magnificence of the canyon can only be compared to the canyon of the river Tara. It begins on Durmitor, at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level and the height of the mouth to Tara is only 512 meters. Except for the first few miles, Susica flows under the ground. A long time ago, this river was overflowing, but a lot of years spring floods forced it to find a more suitable underground way to the river Tara.

 The lowest point of canyon is in it's fourth kilometer. Susicko lake is situated on that place, which as well as the river, during the summer heat disappears and in its place grows herb that blows on the wind and changes it's color from bright green to dark emerald. Shores of canyon turn green in summer, thanks to lush vegetation consisting mainly of pine, spruce, beech and maple. There are several grassy areas resembling a football field at the bottom of the canyon.

 As you get closer to the river Tara, you become more and more surprised by canyon's beauty. The mouth of two rivers and the snare of the two canyons is the most impressive place. The banks of the river Susica from a height of 600 m descend down to the water almost vertically. View of the gorge is memorable, but to admire it you will have to step up to the very precipice and every one is not able to do that, because of the high altitude. There are mountain plateau with two villages at the highest points of the coast. They are Crna Gora and Nedajno in which there is also an observation deck for tourists. Though it seems that these villages are a stone's throw from each other, connecting them road runs almost 20 km.

 The canyon is home to many wild animals such as wild boar, bears, deer, wild goats that graze on it's banks. Susica canyon can reach up to Skrcko circus, in which are situated two glacial lakes — Big and Small Skrcko lake. Susica canyon is part of the tourist route «Durmitor Ring.»
