peninsula in the Kotor bay (the distance to Herceg Novi is about 3 km along the sea through the Gulf). One can get to Rose by car from Tivat

The first fortification on the peninsula near the Rose was built by Turks in the XVII century, but after numerous wars, the fortress was destroyed, and after being restored by the Austrians.

In recent years, the fort Rose was used as a garrison to accommodate soldiers with artillery batteries and machine-gun on the roof of fortifications around the perimeter. Inside it has its own power and water supply. Fort was even able to receive and repair small submarines in their own docks. Now the castle came into disrepair, but the Montenegrin government plans to turn this place into a museum.
