Monastery of St. George

Montenegro is famous not only for its wide beaches and unique historic cities, but also a rich spiritual heritage, which is depicted in numerous temples, churches and mosques located throughout the country. Orthodox monasteries in Montenegro are among the most visited attractions of the country throughout the year. From all over the world, millions of travelers make pilgrimages to the Montenegrin monasteries with remarkable Orthodox shrines. The whole of the country is located about 60 monasteries, and almost every one of them has its own historical heritage and an interesting history.

One of such amazing spiritual places in Montenegro is the Monastery of Agios Georgios (St. George). It is located in the Kotor Bay on the same island, next to another popular island Gospa od shkrpela, near the resort towns of Perast and Kotor. The monastery looks very beautiful and looks quite comfortable on the island grow tall cypresses, which gives it additional charm and glamour. The island is private property and belongs to the Catholic Church.
