Wild nature of Montenegro - visiting of canyons

Montenegro is famous not only for beautiful sea, but also for the unforgettable scenery of the north of the country. This special part of Montenegro, where you will see a unique example of untouched nature. A picture burst upon the eye, where the bright colors of forests, azure waters of the rivers and lakes on the background of majestic mountains create a true masterpiece, which is so easy to touch.

It's not a secret that about 70% of the country is covered by mountains. Powerful seismic processes have formed a unique landscape, where you can find razor sharp peaks, glacial lakes and deep canyons ... We suggest you to go on an amazing and unique journey through the canyons of Montenegro.

The tour starts early in the morning, on the way you will see the Skadar Lake, the largest one in the Balkans, pass through the capital of Montenegro, Podgorica, further along the Moraca canyon with a visiting of the Moraca monastery of XIII century.

Moraca River is conditionally divided into two parts: the flat and measured, which flows into the lake in the territory of the municipality of Podgorica, as well as mining and capricious, originating in the north of Montenegro at Mount Rzhach. It is on the mountain stretch of its flow, the river broke through a canyon into the rocks to a depth of 1000 m, which is characterized by steep cliff banks.

The following destination is Tara River Canyon and unique Dzhurdzhevicha bridge.

Tara River Canyon is the deepest in Europe and the second largest in the world, is under the protection of UNESCO. But the main architectural attraction is Dzhurdzhevicha bridge - a unique 5-arch construction of 366 m in length, one of the highest road bridge in Europe, situated at an altitude of 172 m above the river. Passing through the territory of the Durmitor National Park, where there are 42 lakes, you will find the highest peak of Montenegro - Bobotov Kuk, the height of which is 2522 m above sea level. In Ravnak restaurant - a former hunting lodge of Iosif Tito, we will stop for lunch and a walk. Next, we’ll walk near the Black Lake, bathing is optional. We’ll continue the route towards Shavnik. Despite the fact that there are little architectural and historical attractions in the town, it is famous in all the Balkan countries due to unusual natural phenomenon: the sun sets here and re-appears twice a day. There is an astronomical miracle once a year, at the summer equinox.
